Ms. Ava Sue Campbell, 86, passed away early on April 4th, 2024 at St. Thomas West Hospital.
She was born in Pleasantville, TN on November 23rd, 1937 to the late Joseph and Nellie Qualls King and graduated from Hickman County High School. She was retired from Fisher & Co/Team Linden.
She and her late husband, Jesse Ray Campbell, were well known by many as a result of the relationships they built serving the community through many entrepreneurial ventures including a dairy bar, a grocery store, a mattress store, a pet store, a general hardware store, and others.
Sue considered herself blessed to have two children: Tony Campbell and Tim Campbell both of Lobelville, three grandchildren: Cole Campbell, Hope Campbell, and Laura (Mitchel) Andrews, and four great- grandchildren: Gauge Andrews, Waylon Andrews, Amour’a Roberts, and Blaze Roberts. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ezra King and Hilton King, and her sister, Pearl Stephens. She loved her family more than life itself.
Sue was a natural caregiver who loved her role as the matriarch of the family. She insisted on being the last person to be served in her household and the first person to rise from the table to tend to others’ needs. If there was ever any need, she found a way to meet it. If anyone showed up to her home hungry, she fed them. Even if you showed up to her home and you weren’t hungry, you were probably going to be fed whether you liked it or not.
Sue will forever be remembered as a woman who cared deeply, loved fiercely, and put others’ needs before her own.
